What should I look for when choosing the right dentist for me?
There are many things to take into consideration while choosing the right dentist for you and your family. We recommend confirming office hours work with your schedule, the convenience of the office location, and the quality of the care provided by the dentist and the staff.
At what age should I start taking my child to see the dentist?
Children should first be seen when they get their first tooth. This is a great opportunity to get the child comfortable with a dental exam, as well as to review eating habits and cleaning instructions. Tooth decay is preventable. Together, we can help your child have a healthy mouth!
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept most dental insurance plans. We also offer an in-house Dental Savers Plan. Please call our office at 765-529-8668 for specific questions on either option!
What should you expect during your first dental visit?
We are very thorough! Our goal is to help you optimize your oral health. Your first appointment will consist of information gathering through exam and X-rays. Once complete, we’ll inform you of our findings and answer any questions you may have. If time allows for us to begin treatment the same day, we will. Otherwise, we will schedule a time that is convenient for you.
What’s the difference between a crown and a filling?
A filling repairs a small cavity or crack, while a crown covers the entire tooth when damage is more extensive. Crowns offer protection and restore function.
Can TMJ disorders be treated without surgery?
Yes, many TMJ issues can be managed with non-surgical treatments such as bite splints, stress management, and physical therapy.
What should I do if I knock out a tooth?
Gently rinse the tooth (without scrubbing), try to place it back in the socket, or keep it in milk or saliva. Seek emergency care immediately—time is critical!
How often should I see the dentist?
It is recommended to visit the dentist every 6 months for routine cleaning. During a routine teeth cleaning, we’ll remove plaque and tartar buildup, check for cavities, perform an oral cancer screening, and help you develop better oral hygiene habits at home for better, longer-lasting results.
How often should I change my toothbrush?
The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every 2-3 months or sooner if you see any fraying on the brush bristles.
How can I make my teeth whiter?
We offer multiple methods to whiten your teeth. Take home trays typically provide subtle improvements; whereas in office treatments offer more dramatic results. Be sure to discuss with us at your next appointment to determine the best option for you!
Are veneers permanent and how do they work?
Porcelain veneers are thin shells placed over the front of teeth to improve appearance. They are considered permanent since a small amount of enamel is removed for placement.
How long do dental implants last?
With proper care, dental implants can last 20 years or more. They are a long-term solution for replacing missing teeth and support jawbone health.
What can I do to help my child with dental anxiety?
Bringing your child to a family-friendly practice like Raintree Dental early can help them build comfort. Explaining visits in a fun, positive way and using desensitization techniques can also help.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Common dental emergencies include severe tooth pain, abscesses, broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, and uncontrolled bleeding from the mouth.
